Stress in one form or another is an everyday part of our lives; it can be considered as the pressure that one experiences in any particular aspect of life. Put very simply, stress can be defined as:

“The changes that take place in your body and your mind when a demand seems greater than your ability to cope”

The aim of the course is to raise awareness of the impact stress has upon personal well-being and performance. This course provides realistic and easy to use methods to reduce stress thus improving performance and work life balance. Participants will leave this course with a ‘tool kit’ of personal stress management and reduction tactics to deploy in the work place or at home.

• Motivating and Engaging NEET Young People In Education and Training

Agored Cymru (Level 3) Accreditation optional

The most recent figures for young people who are Not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) published by the Welsh Assembly Government show that currently 11.5% of young people aged 16-18 in Wales are NEET (14,000) with similar rates of NEETs recorded across the rest of the UK. As a result Portal Training has designed and delivered numerous innovative courses to professionals working with NEETs such as Youth Workers, Learning Coaches, Careers Advisers and Skill Build (E2E) Tutors. Within these ground breaking training days participants are given the skills and tools that can and do re-engage and motivate NEET young people, thus enabling and inspiring them to develop and improve their current provision delivered to this distinct cohort of young people, who currently live on the margins of our society in their transition back into Education, Training or Employment.

Throughout this innovative training day, participants are encouraged to think about how they can develop current resources and learning materials to match the range of learning styles, unique to the young person in order to give the learner enhanced access to the curriculum with the goal of developing motivation and a tangible sense of achievement and it's positive association with the young persons' self esteem.

• Cyberbullying and Internet Safety

This powerful course aims to develop realistic approaches to tackling all forms of cyberbullying. This course will develop participants awareness and knowledge of cyberbullying and its impact on learners self esteem, confidence and safety.
The course will bring you up to date with national trends in cyberbullying such as ‘fraping’. Critically, this course will provide participants with effective strategies to combat cyberbullying within their school/college. The course also focuses on e-safety strategies to help protect learners from other dangers presented by the internet such as ‘grooming’.

• Safeguarding Learners

This training programme is designed for staff who work directly with Children and Young People in variety of educational settings. The overall objective is to raise awareness of Child Protection legislation, forms of abuse and the implications of Child Protection Policy and Procedure within your organisation.

The course will develop participants confidence and skills in dealing with Child Protection Issues and crucially identifying the signs of abuse. During the programme there is an emphasis on understanding your professional and legal responsibilities in terms of reporting and recording Child Protection concerns.
