Cyberbullying and Internet Safety


Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for all professionals working within educational establishments across the UK including Primary, Secondary schools, F.E. Colleges and Work Based Learning Providers.  It is also extremely relevant to those professionals working with learners such as Learning Coaches, CareersWales Advisers and 14-19 Learning Networks.

  

Course Overview

This powerful course aims to develop realistic approaches to tackling all forms of cyberbullying. This course will develop participants awareness and knowledge of cyberbullying and its impact on learners self esteem, confidence and safety.
The course will bring you up to date with national trends in cyberbullying such as ‘fraping’. Critically, this course will provide participants with effective strategies to combat cyberbullying within their school/college. The course also focuses on e-safety strategies to help protect learners from other dangers presented by the internet such as ‘grooming’.

 What will I get out of this course?

    • An awareness of the different forms of cyberbullying and the current social networking sites and technology used to cyberbully
    • Knowledge of the educational, social, physical and psychological effects of cyberbullying on the learner
    • Strategies to develop effective policies and procedures to prevent cyberbullying within your school/college 
    • A clear awareness of how to report cyberbullying and other online issues
    • Increased knowledge of other dangers presented by the Internet such as ‘Grooming’

Why is this course important?

Bullying has a massive impact upon children and young peoples' lives from damaging their confidence and self esteem to self harming and suicide.  Recent research from the charity ‘Beatbullying' suggests that over 71% of pupils feel threatened in school and 17% of under 14's would be prepared to carry a weapon to protect themselves. Therefore by attending this course you will learn skills and strategies to prevent bullying in your establishment that will make a huge difference to children, young people you work with.
